Voicemail Greetings for Electricians

Many calls to an electrician are really about the utility. A good greeting sorts those out in one sentence and points dangerous situations to 911, so your team handles the jobs only you can do.

What matters for electricians

01

Whole street dark? Utility first

When a whole block loses power, the problem sits with the utility, not inside the house. Saying so in the greeting saves the caller time and saves your team a callback that leads nowhere.

02

Danger means 911

Sparks, a burning smell or a downed line are not voicemail situations. Name them and tell callers to hang up and dial 911.

03

Inspections and permits

Many electrical jobs need a permit and an inspection. Callers ask about timing. A separate option or a short line about inspection scheduling keeps those calls out of the service queue.

04

Commercial and residential

Property managers and general contractors call with different needs than homeowners. Two short options keep both groups on the right line.

Built by phone-audio professionals

This generator comes out of more than 20 years in a recording studio. We built in what makes a greeting work on the phone: clear pronunciation, sensible pauses and music that never covers the voice. Questions? Andreas Brenner and Tim Stein will help you personally.

Questions

Should an electrician’s greeting mention 911?

Yes. Callers sometimes phone a contractor first in a real emergency. One sentence about sparks, burning smells or downed lines and 911 belongs in every version.

Should we include our license number?

Only if you want to; requirements for license numbers in advertising differ by state. Check your state’s rules before you add it to a greeting.

Can we use one greeting for residential and commercial?

You can, but two menu options work better. Each group gets the right person and the right callback time.
