Domestic and commercial electricians

Voicemail greetings for electricians

An electrician’s line mixes three kinds of call: emergencies, landlords booking inspections and ordinary quotes. A short menu sorts them, so the emergency reaches you and the rest waits for your evening callbacks.

Emergency, landlords, quotes

Thank you for calling Northgate Electrical. If you have no power at all, a burning smell or sparking from a socket, press one and you'll reach our emergency line. Landlords booking an electrical safety report, press two. For quotes and all other jobs, leave a message and we'll call you back within one working day.

Landlords

Inspection booking

For an electrical installation condition report, leave the property address, the number of bedrooms and the date your current report runs out. We'll offer you a slot.

Quotes

New work

For a rewire, an extension or a car charger quote, leave your postcode and a short description, and we'll arrange a visit.

Safety first

Before you call

If a socket or appliance is sparking or smells of burning, switch it off at the consumer unit if it's safe to do so, and don't use it until we've checked it.

Closed

Evening

The [Business name] office has closed for the day, but electrical emergencies still get through: press one. Otherwise leave a message and we'll ring you back from 07:30.

What is different for electricians

Landlord inspections come in waves

GOV.UK guidance for private landlords in England says electrical installations must be checked at least every five years by a properly qualified person. Landlords with several properties call to book them in batches, so give them their own option.

Emergencies need triage

No power, burning smells and sparking need a fast answer; a new socket does not. Naming the urgent cases in the greeting helps callers choose the right option.

01

Say the acronym your customers use

Many landlords say “EICR”, others “electrical safety report”. Use one term and keep it the same across greeting and website.

02

Crisp, not alarming

For the emergency option, choose a clear, steady voice rather than an urgent one.
