British English voices for your phone line

We pick our British English voices for how they sound down a phone line, not through studio headphones. Play the samples below, then try your own script free of charge.

Three female and three male examples

All six were produced in our generator with the UK English setting. Notice how the pace changes with the job: unhurried for a surgery, crisp for a menu.

If storm damage has left your property open to the weather, say so at the start of your message.

Choosing the right voice

01

Match your front desk

A dental practice suits a calm, reassuring voice. A garage or a builders’ merchant can sound more upbeat. Callers should hear the same tone they get when someone picks up.

02

Test on a handset

Play the preview through a mobile speaker rather than headphones. Very deep or breathy voices lose clarity once the line squeezes the sound.

03

One voice for the whole journey

Use the same voice for welcome, menu, queue and out-of-hours message. Callers recognise you at every step, and a change of speaker sounds like a transfer to another company.

04

Other languages

Every voice can also speak Polish, Spanish, French, German and many more. Handy if you serve a mixed community or a European client base.

Why the accent setting matters

In the generator, choose English (UK) in the first text block before you pick the voice. The voice then speaks with British pronunciation. Listen closely to words such as “schedule” or a place name, and change the spelling in your script if one of them comes out wrong.

Write numbers the way you want them heard. “Oh one two one” and “zero one two one” sound different, and British callers tend to expect “oh”.

Questions

Should I choose a female or a male voice?

Both work well on the phone. Pick the voice that fits your business and test your own script with two or three of them; previews are free.

Can I use two voices in one greeting?

Yes. The generator works in text blocks and each block can have its own voice, for example one voice for the welcome and another for the menu options.

Are these human voice artists?

No, they are AI voices. If you want a recording by a professional voice artist, see our page on human voice greetings.
