GOV.UK says a car’s first MOT is due by the third anniversary of its registration, and that an MOT can be done up to a month, minus a day, before it runs out while keeping the same renewal date. That rule answers many booking calls before they reach you. Vehicles registered in Northern Ireland follow different rules.
Garages look everything up by registration number. Asking for it in the greeting saves the callback “which car was that?”.
Write “MOT” and listen to the preview; the voice should read it letter by letter. If not, write “M O T”.
A garage greeting can be brisk and cheerful. Keep the menu to three options.
A greeting can tell callers your booking address, for example “book any time at [web address]”, before the menu starts.
