Greetings for Gamma Horizon
Gamma’s Horizon Administrator User Guide asks for audio files in .wav format, encoded with CCITT u-Law at 8 kHz, 8-bit mono. It also says Horizon does not recognise MP3 files, so convert our MP3 before you upload it.
Where Horizon takes your file
From the Horizon Administrator User Guide v4.6.
| Feature | What the guide says |
|---|---|
| Auto attendant | The last page of the set-up uploads the audio played when the call connects; you can also record by phone instead |
| Call queue announcements | Edit the Call Queue Group and open the announcement tab; uploaded messages play in sequence and loop |
| Music on hold | Set per site under Site Management; system default or a custom audio file |
| Voicemail | Your own recording or the system default message |
From our generator to Horizon
Create and download
Write your greeting, hear it with a British English voice and download the MP3.
Convert the file
In our audio converter, choose WAV µ-law, 8 kHz, 8-bit, mono (µ-law and u-Law are the same codec).
Upload in the Horizon portal
In the auto attendant, call queue or site settings named in the guide.
Test the route
Call the number from a mobile and listen through to the end.
In its music-on-hold section the guide mentions CCITT a-Law once, while every other section asks for u-Law. If the portal rejects your u-Law file there, convert it to WAV a-law, 8 kHz, mono and try again.
Music and rights
Gamma’s guide states that Gamma accepts no responsibility for copyrights and licences for music held on Horizon. Music from our catalogue comes with a usage right for your greeting; for anything beyond that, see on-hold music licensing.
Questions
Why is my MP3 not accepted?
The Horizon guide says Horizon does not recognise MP3 files. Convert to WAV u-Law first.
Can I keep the same voice across all Horizon messages?
Yes. Make the auto attendant, queue announcements and voicemail greeting with the same voice and music in our generator, then convert each file.
